I live in a coastal village, so I am heavily influenced by the beach and my local surroundings.
I love designing pieces for homes from murals to fabric design for blinds, towels, cushions and wall prints. I also enjoy the individual touch of my font that I use on cards, envelopes, wrapping paper, notepads......and my pebbles. I create designs for people who want individual, unique art work for their homes or as a gift.
I mainly use canvas or sketch pad drawings to start my work, and then use my computer to transport the designs graphically onto printed fabric or products such as stationery, lampshades or ceramics.
People ask how long have I been designing for and I struggle to give a definite answer. Selling my designs I would say only the past few years but creating my work then the answer would have to be forever. From a young age when my mum would fill my Christmas stocking full of creative kits to "keep me busy", throughout my education with art qualifications and graduating from University with a teaching degree, my chosen subjects being English & Art.
Although my career led me away from designing into fast paced, exciting organisations such as Coca-Cola, Gillette, PepsiCO, Whitbread.
Each company that I have worked for had strong, iconic branding which clearly influences me today.
I rediscovered my passion in 2012 and saw the potential that online imagery provided after completing a surface pattern design course. It opened up a whole new world for me and presented a different spectrum of possibilities for a freelance designer.
I do have a flexible approach and work well to briefs. If you are looking for inspiration for a particular product range and believe my style to suit your needs then I would love to hear from you. Get in touch here.
